It was a few years ago when Ofcom initially brought in a new UK-wide telephone number prefix – 03 numbers. These 03 numbers are a new alternative to the old non-geographic and chargeable 08 numbers. These 08 numbers included 0870, 0844, 0845 etc.

These non-geographic 03 numbers enable UK wide companies and organisations to have a single telephone number that will allow customers to contact them without having to pay additional costs.

03 numbers cost exactly the same as a call to any standard landline number. As such a call to ANY number starting with 03 (which include 030,031,032,033,034 ect. cost no more than a national rate call to an 01 or 02 number. Part of the rules for 03 numbers is that they MUST be included within any inclusive minutes / free minutes.

These rules apply to calls from any type of line including mobile, BT, other fixed line or payphone.
